Join The HANSE ECO Fleet

We would like to offer you an exciting opportunity to be a key part of this brand-new ship building project, incorporating the latest technological developments in the European Coaster Segment, with the focus on digital solutions.

For an overview of this innovative project please read through the resources below, where you can identify the essential details about this forward-looking project.

Protagonist

Rhenus-Arkon-Shipinvest

Member of Rhenus and ARKON Shipping , is a joint investment company which aims to enable further expansion, flexibility and renewal of the European Short Sea Fleet with state of the art vessels ready for the digitalized new era of shipping. The Hanse-Eco fleet is the result of an initiative by Torsten Westphal, founding member of Arkon Shipping. Together with the partner Rhenus, a long-standing market and industry expert, the development of a sustainable shortsea fleet is a sustainable solution for shipbuilding in line with demand.

Rhenus-Arkon-Shipinvest has developed its own ship standard for European short-sea traffic. The Hanse Eco fleet will combine climate protection and the megatrend of digitalization efficiently and economically.

The Hanse Eco ships are characterized by a number of optimizations compared to conventional construction methods: The forward arrangement of the bridge offers a clear view even with deck cargoes and the innovative hull shape reduces fuel consumption. Furthermore, an increased hold length accommodates project cargoes in addition to classic bulk and breakbulk cargoes. This type of vessel with its full-length deck for voluminous and bulky cargoes is able to serve new cargo segments with its open-top capability.

The vessels will be equipped with fuel efficient marine propulsion including a catalytic converter (SCR) using Urea (Ad Blue) and a front-end mounted electric motor suppling the electrical system for maneuvering and hotel load. This will not only meet the specifications of the future IMO Tier III exhaust gas standard, but also significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions, particulate matter emissions and fuel consumption. In addition, the main engine can burn biofuel. Some other features are a ballast water treatment system, a shore power connection, an integrated automation system and many more.

Arkon Shipping

Has got 25 years of experience in the commercial management of merchant ships and new shipbuilding projects and is one of the market leaders in the field of European Short Sea. Arkon Shipping has recognized the demands of its customers from industry and trade and on this basis has developed its own ecological short sea fleet called “Hanse Eco” which was ordered by Rhenus-Arkon-Shipinvest.

Since September 2020 Arkon Shipping and Wilson ASA went into a cooperation agreement making the combined systems the largest short sea player in Europe. Together they are now taking care of more than 130 dry bulk carriers, including the new state-of- the art “Hanse Eco” vessels.

As an exclusive Commercial Representative Arkon is an integrated part of Wilsons chartering system and handles export fixtures for the whole Wilson fleet in the Mediterranean.
