What To Expect From Us

  • Attention

    We pay attention to our Seafarers because it is important to us that our crew feel as comfortable as possible on board. Without our reliable crew we would not be where we are today. It is important to create a balance between work and recreation. We believe that there is a direct correlation between the welfare of the crew and the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.

  • Seafarer’s Employment Agreement

    We offer an international ITF Seafarer’s Employment Agreement, based on the conditions of an ITF Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

  • Salary

    All payments on board are always transferred to your personal account on time, under consideration of the international payment transactions.

  • Union

    The daily work on board, including the embarkation and disembarkation process, and the responsibilities of the Seafarer and Employer, should be reflected in a general Collective Bargaining Agreement, based on the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) organization. This Collective Bargaining Agreement is internationally recognized and helps both parties to fulfil the requirements of the Seafarer‘s Employment Agreement.

  • Personal Protecton Equipment

    All Seafarers who are approaching the vessel are equipped with seasonal Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) by United Lloyd or the Principal, either before arrival or upon arrival onboard.

  • Insurance & Healthcare

    All Seafarers on board are protected against injury, sickness, accidents, disability and death in relation to the ITF/CBA.

    Independently, the required additional MLC Financial Securities are covered by the Principal’s P&I Club and are displayed on board of the vessels.

  • Welfare

    We work together with the Managing Owner of the ship to create a pleasant environment for our Seafarers, for example, by making free Wi-Fi available on board.

  • Complaints

    In addition to the officially implemented complaint procedure in accordance to MLC, the Seafarer can contact us at any time in case of person private affairs. These affairs can be discussed in a safe environment, without interference of the any third parties.

  • Flag State

    As recognized filing agent for the flag state, we submit all necessary documentation and national certificates in order to arrange a proper application to the mentioned flag states for and on behalf of the Seafarer in a safe manner.

  • Travel Arrangements

    We work with travel agencies to organize all the transportation for Seafarers from their home to the port of destination, and of course back home again, in an efficient and timely manner.

  • Pre-Boarding Briefing

    You will receive a pre-boarding briefing in relation to the Safety Management System (SMS Manual) from the Principal of the vessel where all necessary details are discussed, including Seafarer`s Employment Agreement and other related important information/documentation, e. g. travel arrangements, job description, flag state endorsements if already available etc.

    In addition, we provide our Seafarer’s with a password to our download center, in which all general important details of your contract are uploaded and further details from the Principal can be downloaded.

  • Arrival on Board

    After arrival on board our Seafarers undergo a Briefing & Familiarization process by Ship`s Command. The shipboard familiarization plays a key-role in implementing the safety system aboard a vessel. The shipboard familiarization shall be carried out before the designated crew member is assigned to those duties.

What We Expect From You

  • We expect our Seafarers to apply their skills and experiences professionally, and to fulfil their duties to the best of their abilities with high motivation for our Principals in relation to their ranking on board described in the STCW. But also to go above and beyond expectations and show an interest in the work at hand and in being a part of the team on board and ashore.

  • A smooth and proper handover with the reliever is crucial to reduce gaps in communication which can be relevant in the further operation on board.

  • It is important to us that our Seafarers treat each other with respect, regardless of cultural background.

  • We expect our Seafarers to uphold our values when it comes to reducing waste and keeping our oceans clean. It is important that our Seafarers follow the regulations prescribed by MARPOL, especially Annex V (Prevention of pollution by garbage from ships). More information on this can be found here.

  • The cook on board should also be passionate and inspired to surprise the crew with a variety of dishes and to seek further personal development.

    Please click the button “Apply on board” and take the time to fill in your application carefully and thoroughly, and upload all your relevant and up-to-date certificates, to help ensure that you are considered for open positions. You can apply even if there are no “Vacancies” to ensure that you are first in line for new positions that become available on our managed vessels and for new projects.

  • Agree to GDPR

    It is important that you agree to the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy, which can be found in the online portal under the personal settings, as use of our services without doing so is not possible.

  • Interview Process

    If you are accepted, you will be invited to an interview with our Crew Agent or us, which will be conducted in person, telephonically or over Skype. There is a possibility that the Principal will also wish to conduct a final interview.

  • Approval

    After approval and signing of Seafarer`s Employment Agreement and feedback from the ship’s command and Principal of the vessel, we can offer Seafarers a continuous job with an existing ITF/CBA in relation to the STCW 2010/MLC 2006 and amendments.

Additional Information

The basic aims of the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC), 2006 are:

  • to ensure comprehensive worldwide protection of the rights of Seafarers (the Convention is sometimes called the Seafareres’ Bill of Rights); and
  • to establish a level playing field for countries and shipowners committed to providing decent working and living conditions for Seafarers, protecting them from unfair competition on the part of substandard ships.

The International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) ensures that all Seafarers worldwide have the same basic training, certification and watchkeeping requirements, establishing standards that are internationally recognized.

The aim of the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL) is to keep our oceans clean by stopping, or at least minimizing the pollution caused by accidents and routine operations on ships.
